THE ENTRANCE OF ATHENIAN BUILDINGS, NEOCLASSICAL AND MODERN BUILDINGS, STAND AS TRANSITIONAL SPACES
BETWEEN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE, REFLECTING THE SAME POLARITY. THROUGH THIS PHOTOGRAPHIC SERIES OF 40 IMAGES FROM
5 AREAS OF THE CITY, I ATTEMPT TO REFLECT NOT ONLY THEIR ARCHITECTURE, BUT ALSO THE ATMOSPHERE, THE SENSES AND
THE DETAILS. EACH ENTRANCE BECOMES A SMALL MEMORIAL AND SENSORY NARRATIVE, A SIGN WHERE ATHENS REVEALS ITS
STORIES AND TRANSFORMATIONS.

Thesis Abstract
This thesis examines the entrances of neoclassical and contemporary apartment buildings and general buildings in Athens as transitional spaces that connect the public with private space as a timeless element of the past and present. Through my photographic series documenting areas of the city, the aesthetic and architectural identity of these spaces is analyzed from a historical perspective, with an emphasis on their preservation and differentiation over time. At the same time, the cultural and sociological significance of entrances is emphasized, as a mirror of urban transformations and social trends of the era. Through this work, I aim to highlight the power of architectural photography as an important tool for narrating and understanding the evolution of the Athenian urban landscape, as well as the significance of entrances as carriers of aesthetic, architectural, and social memory.
